Clery Act Crime Statistics
Miami Dade College is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, employees, and visitors. In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (formerly the Campus Security Act of 1990), MDC reports campus crime statistics and safety information each year.
In December 2024, the Act was updated by the Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA), reflecting a stronger commitment to addressing all aspects of campus safety, including hazing prevention and transparency.
The annual campus crime statistics are compiled by the Department of Public Safety and the AVP of Emergency Management in collaboration with:
- The Offices of Student Affairs and Student Life
- Title IX
- Campus Security Authorities (CSAs)
- Local law enforcement agencies that serve and protect our campuses
Each Campus Chief of Public Safety reviews all reported violations and works closely with local police to ensure proper reporting, investigation, and prevention of crimes on college property.
Information about other crimes reported on campus is available upon request from each Campus Public Safety Department.
Commitment to a Safe Campus
Miami Dade College does not tolerate hazing by any individual or organization affiliated with the College. In accordance with state law and the Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA), MDC publishes and distributes a Campus Hazing Transparency Report biannually.
This report lists any confirmed hazing violations and disciplinary actions involving student organizations, allowing students to make informed choices when joining campus groups.
Annual Security Report (ASR)
The Annual Security Report (ASR) provides crime statistics for the previous three calendar years for all MDC campuses. It includes data for:
- On-campus property
- Adjacent public areas
- Non-campus facilities
The ASR also explains Public Safety’s role in:
- Emergency response and evacuation procedures
- Crime reporting and prevention
- Addressing sexual offenses, substance abuse, hazing, hate crimes, and missing persons
You’ll also find information on available crime prevention workshops, counseling and support services, and campus access policies.
For campuses with student housing, the ASR includes fire safety information as required by law.
This report is published in compliance with the updated Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (formerly the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act).
You can request a printed copy of the ASR at any Campus Public Safety Department.
