Hammond organist Adam Scone is expanding the limits of what people think and expect when they hear organ music. With his organ acting as lead singer, Scone serves up a funky, genre-bending experience that will take you on a trip to the outer limits of the soul-jazz universe.
Between tours of Europe, South America, Europe and the U.S., the group has released four full-length albums. His newest album, the Brazilian-influenced Brooklyn to Brooklin (Daptone Records) is unlike any organ record made before or since. Part funk, part beauty and part tropical, this record delivers the feeling of lying on the beach all day and dancing all night. Scone also has released multiple jazz records. His album I Scream Scone! got a four-star review from DownBeat magazine.
In addition to appearing on over 50 recordings, Scone has also accompanied jazz/boogaloo legend Lou Donaldson at the Village Vanguard and the Blue Note. He’s also performed with Jimmy Cobb, Melvin Sparks, George Braith and Ben Dixon. After years of sideman work in New York City, he relocated to Miami to focus on Scone Cash Players.
All concerts are free and open to the public. Live performances will take place at Wolfson Campus Auditorium, 300 N.E. Second Ave., Miami, FL 33132. Building 1, Room 1261. Performances will be livestreamed, except for the student ensembles.
