Mail Center
Miami Dade College Mail Services is dedicated to receive, collect and process all interdepartmental, intercampus and outgoing mail and related services of Wolfson Campus. The College Mail Services provides an important link by ensuring the efficient flow of mail between the U.S. Postal Service and the College community in a timely, cost effective manner. Thus, maximizing savings to the college.
In order to expedite your mail faster and serve you better, please follow the instructions listed below as part of our services. If you have any questions, please contact the mail center at 305-237-3457 or 305-237-3629.
All inter- office mail is sorted by campus and departments. Therefore, inter-office envelopes & packages must be addressed as follows.
- Full name of receiver (required)
- Department name and room number (required)
- Campus name (required)
- To avoid delay, please cross out previous address
Delivered mail to the wrong address must be returned to the Mail Center immediately. Please correct the address if you have the information. It is the employee’s responsibility to inform the Mail Center of any changes in location.
Inter-Campus mail pickup from Wolfson Campus will be around 12:00 pm once a day and delivered to other campuses.
Pickup and Deliveries: The mail center makes a pickup and delivery of all incoming and outgoing U.S. Postal mail at 8:00 a.m. All incoming mail will be sorted by 11:00 am. Please allow enough time for your mail to be processed by the Mail Center.
Return address is always required. This permits the U.S. Postal Service to return undeliverable mail. Therefore, your return address must be as follow:
- Full name of sender
- College/ Campus
- Department name and Room number
- Complete address
- Department account number or account to be charged.
The U.S. Postal Service automated processing equipment does not have the ability to interpret hand written letters. Therefore, the delivery address must be accurate and typed in order for your mail to be process in a timely manner. Detecting addressing problems can be time consuming and costly.
The following guidelines for addressing a mail piece will assist to reduce the Campus postage expenses.
- Please update all your mailing list
- Address must be typed or machine printed
- Address must maintain a uniform left margin
- Window envelopes should show address only
- Color labels cause equipment scanning problems and should be avoided
- Color ink; Black or Blue only
- Use (2) letter state abbreviations only
- The right lower side of envelopes should be clear for bar- coding
- City, State and Zip code must be on the last line
- Use appropriate Zip + 4 code (If unknown; use 5 digit zip-code)
There are two (2) types of bulk mail.
First class: when sent pre-sorted it is usually done by a presort company. Third class: it is also known as the Standard Bulk Mailing. Standard Bulk Mailing is processed by the Campus Mail Services. All bulk mailing needs to be in our department 48 working hours in advance. First Class Bulk Mail or Presort First Class, the following is needed:
- Mailing must contain 500 pieces or more.
- Must fit within a letter size-processing category.
- Indicia must be marked “presorted” and “first class”
- An authorized form with all required signatures must be attached.

Third Class or Standard Bulk Mail, the following is needed:
- Mailing must contain 200 pieces or more.
- Must be identical in size, color and weight.
- Must be in zip code order.
- The indicia must have the permit imprint stamp
- Non-Profit
- Permit No. 313
- A sample of the piece must accompany the mailing.
- An authorized form with all required signatures must be attached.

There are two authorization request forms: the first one is for a large mailing processed on campus. The second one is used when specific departments send large mailings through a external mailing house. The mailing house must have an authorization to use the Miami Dade College / Wolfson Campus permits number.
It is the responsibility of the department sending the mailing to seek the following authorizations prior to any mailings from the Mail Center.

Although the Mail Center does not send packages via USPS, UPS, FedEx, or any other courier service, if you have a package to be returned via a courier service, you may drop it off at the mailroom but the package must be properly labeled. If you have any questions, please contact the Mail Center Supervisor.
